RCX, The Bird Logo
The Bird Logo
This logo was designed for RCX.it [founded by: Roberto Capodieci] and it has the purpose to friendly represent the sigla RCX which is the acronym of the name of the founder: “R” stands for Roberto, while “CX” are representing his family name: Capodieci [“dieci” means “ten”, which in roman number is “X”]. The positioning of the letters in the logo has been inspired by the way Roberto was signing using this acronym. And restyled to represent the profile of a bird… a bird logo!
Neat logo, complex grid
Don’t get mislead by the simple look of the bird-logo, clean, neat, well proportioned… and to obtain those harmonic proportions indeed, the system used is actually quite complex.
The bird logo started with a square…
The square is used in this design to define the diagonal lines used to create the “X” [let’s say the “back” of the bird] and the diameters of the circle describing the “C” [or the “leg” of the bird], as well as the one used to “crop” the vertical line in the “R” [the “chest” of the bird].
The Golden Ratio has been used basically to crop the right diagonals of the “X” [the “tail”], to place and crop the beak of the bird, and as a result also to proportion the two circumferences [the “head” and the “leg”].
Even tho the proportions behind the design of this bird logo seem so hard to explain [and indeed it is!], the final result is extremely simple and “eye-friendly”.
What does Roberto Capodieci thinks about the new logo for RCX.it?
