DeBuNe, Four-Dimensional Logo
Design for a… New Dimension
To understand the choices made in designing this logo and why it’s a four-dimensional logo, it’s needed to understand what DeBuNe is.
To briefly explain what DeBuNe [Decentralised Business Network] is, this is how it’s defined in its own website:
DeBuNe is a decentralised peer-to-peer ecosystem of small skilled businesses (Business Units). It implements the most powerful aspects of market economy through the use of the blockchain: the innovative technology that drives crypto-currencies.
In short: DeBuNe is the new dimension of business, trading and management. Dedicated to small and medium enterprises, offers them a new way to: market, collaborate and monetise. Even to access a dedicated stock market. All the trading and communications are kept safe by the blockchain technology, which allows data to be written and stored permanently.
A four-dimensional logo
This “four-dimensional logo” represents a dimension that is hard to grasp for the majority of the population. Yet it represents it in a way that appears really friendly and familiar to everyone.
The concept itself of a four-dimensional object is really hard to understand and imagine. But seeing it’s 3D projections, can help us understand it… and mostly make it look familiar to us. This concept works for DeBuNe as well. This is one of the reasons why this four-dimensional logo is inspired to the shadow of a pentachoron [or tetrahedral pyramid]: a four-dimensional figure. The logo presents the idea of a complex, yet solid, network using a really familiar shape: a diamond.
The blocks of the blockchain’s logo
Being DeBuNe a potentially Open Source Project, the logo had to be simple. The modular grid used to design this four-dimensional logo makes the logo easy for anyone to reproduce and replicate. The design is based on a 3×3 grid, in which each square has side 9x, given “x” as measurement unit. For the bottom-center square, and the top row external one, the center of the side has been used as reference. Built that grid, the logo is simply designed connecting the dots. This interweave of lines is what represents both: the network and the peer-to-peer connection.
The new dimension of branding
DeBuNe is “nothing” but a whole network. A very well organised one. Business Units are free to connect and trade with all the others. No main control nor central power to dictate laws. This idea has been represented by the circumferences in the logo. Each “dot” connection is direct to the others, nothing stands in between. And if you’re wondering which font has been used: for DeBuNe Logo’s lettering is the “Nova Round” available for free use at Google Font.
Logo on the blockchain, it’s solid!
To recall in the viewers the idea of something solid, the shape has been organised to resemble a diamond. Diamonds are forever. And so are the data in the blockchain, defined as W.O.R.M. [Write Once Read Many]. Once a new block has been sealed and encrypted, it cannot be tempered with: it stays. Forever.
