Any Social Hub, The Gestalt Based Logo
A Gestalt based Logo, essentially
The gestalt based logo realised for Any.sh need to be of essential design and of course [designed for an online platform] being recognisable really easily even when used at the small size of a Favicon.
The font-type needed to give the idea of something related to technology, but at the meantime user-friendly, those parameters lead the choice to the Insignia STD Roman, font that inspired as well the logo of the famous TV series Futurama.
The modular grid
The design of the mark for Any Social Hub platform’s logo it’s based on a modular grid based on the diagonals of a 9×9 square. This helps the mark giving the idea of something solid and computer related, recalling the 8-bit style of design restyled as with those resolutions would be impossible to have sharp diagonal lines.
Arrows for connections
The arrows pointing to the extern give dynamism to the logo, “breaking” the rhythm of all the other lines to which they are perpendicular. Moreover the angle create by the point of the arrow strengthens and makes easier to see the square in which the logo is designed.
The two arrows pointing toward the extern are suggesting also the possibility of the connections offered by the Social Hub, potentially… ANY!
The Gestalt Based Logo
To accomplish the target of showing both the “S” and the “H” [from Social Hub], the logo leverages the gestalt principles: our brain tends to elaborate objects analysing them as a “whole”, to reconstruct and link missing part of the images, and to “read” the empty spaces as elements.
In this Gestalt based logo there are actually neither an “S”, nor an “H”.
Tho our brain interprets the lines in the design to make us clearly see in the empty spaces a capital “H”, rotated of 45º clockwise, and in the lines an “S” rotated 45º counterclockwise, completing the gap at the center of the mark, that makes it clearly a gestalt based logo.
What was the comment from Any Social Hub about the new logo?
Using the empty spaces created by simple straight lines to represent both the “S” and the “H” it has just been a perfect solution!
Milo Baù [aka MyLaw.it] created all the drafts we required to let us free to choose the idea that suited us the best, it has been an hard time choosing among all those beautiful designs, and in the end we could not have been more satisfied with the result.
Professionally, the logo designer Milo Baù it’s highly recommended!
