Whiff Love: An essential logo for essential oil.
Whiff Love is a distributor for Young Living essential oils, with base in Singapore and Bali, Indonesia. The name Whiff Love come from a play on the salutation “with love” [as explained in their website]. As opening the activity to the online market, Whiff Love needed a logo which could summarise the love for essential oil, be used as favicon in their website, on the labels, and mostly [and obviously] in the whole branding.

A modular grid, composed by small squares rotated of 45º has been used as base to design the mark for Whiff Love. Representing the “essential oil passion” a single drop [representing indeed an essential oil‘s drop] has been designed inside a symbol of a heart. This minimally designed mark has been placed between the word “Whiff” and “Love”.

To make the logo look balanced, the kerning has been managed on modular units of the same width of the lowercase “L” letter. The mark’s height matches the dots highest edge [in this case of the dot of the lowercase “i”] at its top, and the lower point of the descending letters [ex: the letter “v”] at its bottom.
The heart-drop mark has been designed to perfectly match the weight of the font used in of this logo: the “Josefin Sans”, [available for free use at Google Fonts] to give perfect balance and consistency at this logo for essential oil distributor Whiff Love.
What was the comment from Whiff Love about the logo designed?
Whiff Love is a website that chronicles the use of essential oils to achieve balance in health and wellness. The name is play on the salutation “with love”.
The brief provided for the icon was that it should reflect something to do with essential oils, the “love” of the name, and nature. The icon should also be incorporated into the Whiff Love banner.
Milo expertly put together the elements of an essential oil drop with a heart shape to create the icon, and used green to reflect nature.
I am very happy with how the logo and icon turned out.
